February 15 marked the 3rd annual Homestead Sledding Contest. This year it was registered as an event with the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, a project of the Maine Outdoor Coalition to promote outdoor activity. The weather could not have been more perfect for a day of winter fun. The Woods were filled with families out for a snow shoe or ski, and over 30 people gathered in the Homestead fields for an afternoon of sledding. Prizes were award for the fastest and longest runs as well as to the most creatively decorated sled and “special events” snow boarder.
