Historic stone bridges, scenic waterfalls, a towering forest and a wild meadow not only earned Vaughan Woods its local nickname “Hobitland,” but also make it home to some of the most unique walking trails in Maine. Designed for nature appreciation and recreation in the 1930s, the Vaughan’s and their friends once enjoyed leisurely drives through the Woods to their “Tea House” atop the hill.
