We are pleased to announce a parking and pedestrian access improvement project at the Hallowell trailhead for Vaughan Woods.
The new parking area at the Hallowell Trailhead is now open. Note that there is now a specified entrance and exit. Also, the old parking area between the stone wall and the road is no longer to be utilized for parking. Please park only in the newly designated parking area – not along the road and not in the old parking area.
There is still landscaping work to be done in the spring
Remember, that if this one is full, the Farmingdale Trailhead is always open to pedestrians and parking is allowed there during non-school hours.
This project was funded through grants from the Elsie & William Viles Foundation and the Recreational Trails Program through the Maine Department of Agriculture & Forestry and the Bureau of Public Parks & Lands.
